Click on the movie for a look at a prior year PREMA event Chapter News CAPTIAL HILL VISITS - During May 2010, Chapter President Cherie Honigberg, CPM and Cheryl Shontz, CPM President-Elect along with Nick Schwendeman, CPM from the Lexington/West Virginia Chapter participated in another successful Capital Hill visit, lobbying congress on behalf of all IREM members on the issues that affect the commercial real estate industry and to help stop the enactment of legislation that could negatively impact all of us or to encourage legislation that would have a positive impact in our business.  Visit www.irem.org/sechome.cfm?sec=publicpolicy  IREM's Public Policy website for more information on IREM's legislative activity.  THE KENTUCKY PREMA RACE AT CHURCHILL DOWNS - Members and guests turned out for an IREM day at the races on May 21, 2010.  IREM sponsored the second race of the day the "Kentucky PREMA Race" with the winning horse EXCITABLE BOY and winning jockey Freddie Lenclud. IREM CHAPTER 59 ABOUT TOWN - Julia Smith, ARM, CAN and Travis Yates, CPM  represented the chapter at the annual Louisville Apartment Association trade show on May 18, 2010.  The theme this year was Red, White & Blue - A Salute to Our Armed Forces.  We all appreciate their hard work and participation to make the IREM Booth a success and promote the benefits of becoming a member. MEMBER RECOGNITION AND AWARDS - During the Chapter's July Membership Meeting, several members were recognized for their hard work, participation and overall effort in promoting the chapter and IREM designations.  IREM Chapter 59's 2009 CPM of the Year was awarded to President Cheri Honigberg, CPM for her effort in raising the visibility of the chapter and creating new experiences for the Chapter membership, to name a few of her initiatives during her tenure.  Special recognition was given to Laura Metcalfe, CAN, Julia Smith, ARM, CAN, David Tolson, ACoM, CAN and Travis Yates, CPM, for their Outstanding Achievements on behalf of the Chapter, as well.  Congratulations to all and thank you for the time you volunteer to make this a better chapter and all your hard work. Also during the July Membership Meeting there was recognition of members with milestone anniversaries with IREM.  Jean Reid, CPM was awarded her 25-year anniversary pin and Mike Mattingly, CPM was awarded his 5-year anniversary pin.  Congratulations to both on reaching their respective milestone.
